Eleventh Week Reflection

 In this week's lesson, our topic was machinima in language learning and teaching. Before the lesson started, we were briefed on what we had done in the past 11 weeks. I think this is very useful in terms of reminding us of previous weeks and reinforcing what we have learned. A word formed from Machinima machine+cinema. As a teacher, you may not always have time to prepare something for your students, but the materials that are ready sometimes may not suit our wishes, so as a teacher you must be creative and developer.As Machinima samples, we watched the clips prepared by the students of our lecturer 5 years ago. Although they were a little old visually, they were actually quite suitable videos. First we watched the video called The Ring, the topic of the video was an unusual situation and there was also a lesson plan for teachers to use. Then we watched the video called Resident Alien. It was a video about an alien's life on earth, and its purpose was to teach past simple tense. Honestly, clips like these are great for students to get used to the daily language and communicate with each other. There is not enough participation in the classroom or online education, but such activities are important for students to use their speaking skills and language at the same time.Then we looked at the games and virtual platforms that are suitable for machinima. We talked about Roblox, SansarVR, Second life, Minetest, Creativerse. Such applications are very good for children to learn vocabulary, communicate and use their imaginations. While learning things, bringing them to life with virtual reality at the same time helps learning. Minecraft is very suitable for learning vocabulary, the only disadvantage is that it is more about nature, and Sims is a suitable platform for learning vocabulary too.We set up rooms and shared our views and comments on what we learned, which actually allowed us to communicate with each other, and we were able to compare the views of our peers and later of a teacher on the subject.Frankly, I was quite amused by what our instructor did as a clip, and I found its subject more remarkable. Seeing an example so close to us made me feel that the Machinima technique is not difficult.As a friend of mine said during our discussions, it seemed that the parents' perspective on trying to learn something through the game would not be good, but the comment of our educator as a parent that they have to respect the techniques that the teacher applies on the students is very true.As a result, we will have a more technological life from now on, and the certainty of this proves that such techniques are worth applying.
