My Fourth Week Reflection

 

   First of all, we made an evaluation about our lessons in the last weeks, we talked about what we were working on. Then we started to examine some applications. Firstly, I did not know the rapid translater that Gökhan teacher showed and I saw that it was very useful because we learn most of the information through Wikipedia, so it is very useful to translate words quickly. One of my friends suggested the application called PONS, and I was using only tureng as a dictionary until now, and I still use it. Then we started to examine the applications that we can use as libraries. It is obvious that these applications will be useful for us when we become teachers in the future, and this has exactly increased my interest in the course. We reviewed six e-libraries: Global digital library, Storyweaver, scholastic, Raz-Kids, Commenlit, Readworks.org. It is very useful to have features such as being able to download books and listening to audio in all of them. There are no activities that children can do before and after reading in the Global Digital Library. This is a disadvantage, in my opinion, it is a more developable application. In fact, the development of the applications increases according to the order I put above. While the first applications are more colorful and suitable for younger students, the last applications seem useful for younger students.At the same time, the people who voice the books on the Storyweaver site are all Indian and have a slightly different English accent. Gökhan teacher said that it would be good to hear different accents, although I agree with this, I do not think it is suitable for children who are just starting to learn English. It is also a very important detail that most applications give teachers graphs and statistics about students for their evaluation, and in addition, the fact that the books are divided into levels is nice to support the development of the students. I can't help but say that I was very proud that Raz-Kids is a Turkish platform because it was very well made and one of the ones that caught my attention. As a result, as a person who is quite ignorant about applications or sites, learning so much increased my self-confidence and I was happy to be able to teach a more remarkable, useful and entertaining lesson to individuals I will teach in the future.
